Bankers Hill

Although not a downtown district, this affluent neighborhood is located just north of downtown on a graceful hill overlooking the bay and Point Loma. Developed in the 1890s, Bankers Hill appealed to both renowned architects and the city’s wealthiest residents (hence the name). It features some of San Diego’s grandest historic homes, heirloom landscaping, and several footbridges above its deep canyons. The mostly residential community offers many classic architectural styles, such as late Victorian, Queen Anne, Georgian Revival, Craftsman, and Early Modern. Newer homes and condo towers, as well as a bevy of stylish restaurants, have joined the mix in recent years.
